Stay in the centre of activity
Riad El Borj was a delight to discover on my first trip to Marrakech. Charming and friendly staff, a fabulous cook and plenty of tips of how to spend a week in Marrakech. The owner Daniel is French but lives in Morocco now. 90% of Riads are owned and run by non-locals which seems to give you a level of service and quality beyond local norm. It gives a haven to return to after a day exploring the city. The rooms are tastefully decorated, a mixture of local colours, materials but modern and practical. Being one of the highest Riad's the rooftop terrace affords a great view over the Medina. Day trips can be organised by the Manager, Rachid. Reasonably priced and honest. For the internal staff, you only have to pay a tip at the end of your stay - keep your small change for your street tips! I plan to go back in the Spring/Summer to see the change the of season. My visit was early January. Coldish but blue skies! www.riadelborj.com [more] |
