Stroll with the locals on the Paseo Maritimo

 stars
The seafront promenade is a wonderful feature of most seaside resorts and in Spain they do it very well. The Paseo Maritimo in Marbella is a great example of these promenades; a well paved, well lit promenade stretching from the Fishing Port all the way to Puerto Banus (although not all of this is paved). This is a lovely but tiring walk of about an hour each way with a little bit on the beach. The part parallel with Marbella town centre is the most popular and it is lined with good restaurants and bars which act as great staging posts to rest weary feet. There are a few international places, but it is predominantly a Spanish area. There are always people on the promenade; joggers and speed walkers before and after work, tourists during the day and on Sunday Spanish families come out en mass to enjoy their paseo, catch up with old friends and have a great slap up lunch on one of the nearby restaurants, it’s great to join in!
