Shaughnessy Village: I lived in this hotel for three months
While working in Vancouver on a temporary contract, I lived in this hotel for three months. I recommend the place as a comfortable, safe property that isn't terribly expensive. It has a pool that is nice, but it closes in October for the winter so don't expect it to be available outside of the summer and fall. Also, you do get breakfast vouchers but even the biggest breakfast is pretty small: 2 eggs, a tiny bit of hashbrowns, and 2 sausage links. The gym that they advertise hardly has any equipment and looks like it hasn't been updated in 20 years or so. The rooms are small and themed as cabins, the kind that you find on cruise ships. If you are clusterphobic, then you won't like this place at all. The location can be described as bad, but not terrible. There are no major attractions within a ten minute walk except for Vancouver city hall. Also, shops and stores are down the way a few blocks and groceries are even further. It is a short drive to downtown Vancouver and a bit longer of a drive to UBC. [more] |
