Bund View Without the Tourist Prices
I just literally got home 2 hours ago from Captain’s Hostel: a (rare) backpacker hostel in Shanghai. I wasn’t staying there: I live here, but Captain’s has long made a name for itself as a decent priced place to have a beer with a great view. I can’t believe I’ve never been here before! Captain’s offers a view of Pudong (the ‘skyline’ side of the river opposite the Bund), prices that you get in regular bars (i.e. 40RMB a pint) and a friendly – if slightly poor service. Who cares though?! With views like this you’d normally be paying twice the price and this bar genuinely made me remember why I was living here. If you’re in Shanghai and want the view but don’t want to spend $$$ on one beer…go to Captains; you’ll have just a good experience and loads of great photos to take home with you. [more] |
