Cuban Food in the West End
If you are hungry for some Cuban food, head to Havana Central. They have three locations in New York City, and I would recommend West End location. It's on Broadway between 113th and 114th Streets. During warm weather, you can eat outside on the sidewalk.
The sandwiches start at $9.00 and are very filling. They have a variety of dishes from seafood to vegetarian to beef. I had the lobster filled avocado appetizer as a main dish; I was very happy! My friend ordered arroz con pollo and said it wasn't very flavorful and not worth the $9.00 it cost. I'm not sure if it was just that night, but you might want to keep it in mind when you order.
They also have a large bar inside. They're well known for the variety of yummy Cuban drinks with a large variety of mojitos and sangrias. Mojitos start at $10.00 and a pitcher costs $40.00. Costs for entrees start at $9.00 and go up to $24.00 depending, of course, on the order.
I would definitely recommend a reservation, particularly on weekends. You can make a reservation online or over the phone.
The atmosphere is fun and lively and fairly chilled out; there is no dress code. They're open for brunch on Sundays and for lunch and dinner throughout the rest of the week. [more]
