A Decent Bed on a Budget in Beijing
Although I’ve lived in Shanghai for 4 years, I’m ashamed to admit it took me until last weekend to visit Beijing. Being clueless about the city, I randomly booked a hotel over the internet in the ‘bar area’ of Sanlitun. The Eastern Inn was as cheap (for a single room) as the hostels, so I wasn’t holding out too much hope, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find a clean, newly-furnished, spacious single en-suite. I was even more pleased when, after a wander, I found I was just minutes walk away from the bars and restaurants that the area is famous for, as well as an open air mall called The Village which combined good shops as well as more places to eat. All-in-all, if you’re bedding down on a budget in Beijing and you want to be in this area, I’d recommend the Eastern Inn as opposed to one of the hostels. My single en suite was 209RMB a night, and for the standard of room, was more than satisfactory. [more] |
