A night at the pictures
Ok, so I know it sounds lame, going to the cinema when you're traveling, but I always do it at least once. And I think you actually get a much better idea about life in countries by doing things like this, things that the local people actually do rather than trekking up a volcano with all the other tourists. I know I'm arguing from a skewed point and maybe its just really obvious what I'm saying, but there is something there, maybe, some truth that is easy to miss when mass tourism is everywhere. Well anyway I really enjoyed visiting the local cinema in Granada. Tickets were 25 Cordobas (about $1.20) and popcorn was 8 Cordobas (well the locals were eating it so I thought I should too...). The reel changer must have been tripping out or something up in his little booth, because we missed a chunk of the movie every time he changed the reel. It was hot inside the cinema and the seats weren't too comfy, but I still recommend going, ok? If you want to experience modern day Nicaragua go and sit in a movie theatre and watch an American movie with all the other Nicas. Travelling can be confusing sometimes! [more] |
