Hotel Riu Palace, Costa Adeje, Tenerife

In the resort of Costa Adeje, few miles north of Playa de las americas in Tenerife. The hotel is set in very spacious grounds which lead directly onto the seafront promenade. He promenade runs 7miles along to Los Christianos and north to a village called La Calleta The hotel has an a la carte restaurant, bar, evenign entertainment lounge, poolside restaurant and bars, two simming pools and children’s pool and play area. The hotel also has a spa centre with gym, jacuzzi and hairdresser (only open from 3-7pm). There is a small computer area with internet access and a small games room and library. There is evening entertainment which is very varied – opera, jazz, flamenco, pianist, jugglers.

The staff are very friendly and the hotel offers lots of services – they offer free melon by the pool; waiters come round for drinks orders every 30mins and you get complimentary fruit, water and cava in your room on arrival. They also phone your room to check you are ahppy with everything and come round the resturant each evening to check everything is of a high standard. They will also let you have your room for free if you have a late departure and no-one is arriving. They are also very helpful in allocating rooms you want.

The hotel is quite expensive but they are very customer orientated - there is excellent service stanards and attention to detail.

The rooms have air conditioning, a mini-bar, a safe (for 14 Euros per week), a TV (but there are only limited english channels) and there is a large bathroom and a good-size wardrobe.
The food is amazing –so definitely opt for the half board option. Breakfast is served 8-10.30am and consists of cold meat and cheese, cereal, bread, cakes, fruit, as well as hot food. The pancakes and omelettes are very good. They also prepare your choice of smoothies and have free glasses of cava. Lunch is available in the poolside retsuarnt, the service is good and portions are generous but it is not cheap. I’d recommend the sald buffet. There are two fixed sittings for dinner: 6pm and 8pm – tables are reserved. There is soup, salad, a good choice of hot food and desserts.
