Backerei Konditorei: Pastries Delight!
One of my favorite things to do when in a new place is to sample the pastries and baked goods. Luckily for me, the Backerei Konditorei was just around the corner from the Swissotel Le Plaza! Fresh breads, pretzels, muffins, and a variety of Danishes were always available—except on Good Friday. Also, be prepared to do a lot of pointing as none of the staff we encountered spoke English. My favorite was the ultra-fluffy pastry layered apple turnover, while my companion preferred the pretzel bread. Prices were not high, although you’ll need to get there early as this bakery is also a local favorite, and the store typically sells out several items by mid-morning. We were able to swing back by in the afternoon, however, to pick up our desired selections. Very much recommended. [more] |
