Louisiana Peace Memorial: Remembering the American Soldiers
When I visited the Louisiana Peace Memorial, I was temporarily engulfed in emotional memories as the purpose and history of the park was narrated to me by a close friend. The memorial tower is an architectural wonder actually erected as a tribute to American soldiers who portrayed heroism in their line of duty during the Vietnam War. Considering that the Vietnam War remains America’s longest war in which thousands of American soldiers lost their lives, the tower definitely holds much significance in the history of America. The Louisiana Peace Memorial park consists of a giant tower rising to hundreds of feet above the ground and hosting numerous aluminum birdhouses and thousands of purple martins. In my view the tower qualifies to be one of the largest birdhouses in the world. The other attractive features of the memorial monument include different symbols of different units of the military, neatly trimmed lawns fitted with benches and oak trees which provide the much needed shade. The scenic beauty that is characteristic of the memorial park definitely qualifies it an attractive photography spot for residents and visitors alike [more] |
