Margaret Manor House: Experiencing the Wonders of 20th Century Architecture
The city of Lake Charles boasts many historic buildings associated with Louisiana’s earliest developments and the Margaret Manor House is one such attraction. During my tour of the city in the company of my friends and other tourists, we were briefed that the Margaret Manor House is oldest apartment building in the city of Lake Charles, having been put up in the early 20th century. The apartment complex maintains it original structure consisting of high ceilings, antique lighting fixtures, hardwood floors, plastered walls and solid wooden doors. All apartments are split into spacious living rooms with archways leading to study rooms, bedrooms, kitchen, dining rooms, bathrooms and sun porches with casement windows. The building is one of the designated historic landmarks in Lake Charles as identified by the Calcasieu Preservation Society. [more] |
