Safety in Bogota
Tell any Westerner that you´re coming to Bogota, and it´s likely their reaction will be a mixture of surprise and concern. Statistics about murder and kidnapping rates will be banded about, and you may well start to wonder if you are doing the right thing. Although I had been in South America for over seven months when I visited the Colombian capital, I still approached with a degree of trepidation.
