Kabaka’s Palace: Retracing Uganda’s Age Old Political Organization
The Kabaka’s Palace is the residence for Uganda’s ceremonial monarchy. The palace serves as the residence for Uganda’s King of the Baganda Kingdom. The current King comes from a family lineage and dynasty whose existence can be traced to thousands of years ago. I did not get the opportunity to tour the inside of the palace due to protocol limitations but the palace’s exteriors portray enough of its architectural wonders. The wide pillars and the raised staircase at the main door of the palace is enough evidence that has lasted for several centuries, because it is quite a rare piece of architecture. Kabaka’s Palace is a high security zone and tourists wishing to visit the palace must make special arrangements with Uganda’s government department of cultural services. [more] |
