Overlooking the reef and rainforest
On a clear, sunny day – a weather condition that often prevails in Cape Tribulation - from the summit of Mount Sorrow you get amazing views overlooking the rainforest, beaches and reef. The only transportation to get there, though, is your own feet. The climb, or rather, a hike along the ridge trail takes from three to five hours one way, depending on your fitness level and speed. Wear good shoes, take at least one litre of water, some discipline, nerves, intermediate physics, thus the trekking becomes an enjoyable experience. Remember to follow the track and the colour markers on the trees, constantly. People have disappeared from this 3.5 kilometres long, winding path, that ascends on the 730 meters altitude above sea level. The main viewing platform at the peak gives a glimpse of the turquoise Pacific Ocean in the distance, but the view is even more stunning if you continue about 200 to 300 meters further along the narrow path all the way to the warning sign.
