Finding A Little Bit of Germany In Sanford, Florida
Just along the sidewalk on First Street we noticed a patio with outside seating. It was the entrance to Hollerbach's Willow Tree Cafe. We were greeted and seated by a hostess. Since it was rather cool that day, we chose to eat inside. The interior is divided into two eating sections. German decorations are prominent with stag's heads, beer adverts, and more. It's a cozy place, well lit. We were the second set of customers for lunch, but the place filled up quickly after we had placed our orders. Service was fast and efficient. They have an extensive menu for both lunch and dinner featuring German inspired dishes such as Rahm Schnitzel, sauerkraut, spatzel and sausages. There are plenty of salads, soups, appetizers and sandwiches on offer. Beer, wine, liquors, soft drinks, tea and coffee are available. Desserts are mouth-watering and included coconut pie and Black Forest cake. Check out the dessert display-it will be difficult to chose from the many offerings. Dress is casual to office professional. The Willow Tree is open daily, but on Monday the hours are 11 am to 3 pm and only lunch is served. The rest of the week you can get lunch or dinner. Hours are 11 am to 9 pm Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday and Saturday they open at 11 am and close at 10 pm. Parking is street side, or better yet there's a free public parking lot about half a block away on the corner of Palmetto Avenue and First Street.
