Has anyone recently visited Bhutan?
Has anyone recently visited Bhutan? I´ve read in a travel magazine you need to spend a minimum of €200 per day.
What is the best way to get there? I heard to can travel from Kolkatta by land or taking a plane from Dehli and Katmandú.
Many thanks!

Avoiding tour groups
It's impossible to travel independently in Bhutan, but that doesn't mean you need to be part of a large tour group.
Book directly with a Bhutanese tour company to arrange an itinerary which suits you and you can choose which hotels to stay in, where to eat and which parts of the country to explore.
A guide and driver will travel around with you - make friends with your guide and he'll be worth his weight in gold. I managed to get into temples normally closed to foreign tourists to look around and visited small villages, well away from the tourist trail.
