St John's, Newfoundland
Newfoundland is certainly a unique experience and if you have the time and motivation then I really recommend it. Check carefully your travel arrangements before going as during the winter months the ferry service can be intermittent (or stops completely) and the weather can obviously have a severe impact on every aspect of life and travel here.
The main town is Saint John’s on the eastern coast and is a down-to-earth capital with a rugged atmosphere. There is excellent sea food to be had around the harbour and it is possible to eat seal flipper pie.
