Insider advice for your Schleswig-Holstein vacation

Multimar Wattforum 4 stars
The Multimar Wattforum is a massive visitor centre and aquarium for the Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer - otherwise known as the Wadden Sea National Park in the Schleswig-Holstein region in North Germany.
The facility itself is located on the Eiderstedt Peninsula, and comprises of two massive buildings opened in 1999. It attracts over 200,000 visitors every year.
Inside the Multimar Wattforum, you will find an aquarium containg over 250 species of fish and other sealife found in the park. There is also a huge display explaining the effects of tides, as well as displays on salt marshes, sand dunes, and beaches. These are supplemented by audio visual displays and hands-on exhibitions.
Downstairs is the "Whale House", where a 17 metre long skeleton of a sperm whale greets visitors who want to learn more about these creatures.

Baltic Island Fehmarn 3 stars
Fehmarn is a typical small Baltic island and very convenient to get to, as it it linked to the main land via a train/car bridge. Trains go from Hamburg and Lübeck. Fehmarn offers mainly marine activities such as wind surfing. You won't have difficulties finding rental bikes and since the island is flat as a pancake this is actually a good idea. Cycle through the weat fields and find a little café somewhere by the water. Trivia for music fans: Flügge on Fehmarn was the site of the last ever Jimi Hendrix concert in 1970. Now there's a yearly revival festival to commemorate this.
