A walk !! 3 stars
The last thing you could do in the city if you don’t feel like any of the things I told you about, is to take a walk!! They improved the area between Sakkala and the Korra Road and made it a very interesting walk, the pavements are wide unlike most of the city, you can find two shopping malls along the way, last I checked there was not anything worth seeing there, the police is everywhere along the way ensuring security. You can also find many restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy the view and relax while your kids play around.

Shopping 3 stars
Shopping in Hurghada is also kind of cool, you can find many bazaars with t-shirts and statues of course but I would like to recommend two places, the first is "Cotton house" located in Arosa Square, Sakkala. It has some good quality shirts and for good prices, the second is "Wood you Like" near to sakkala square selling very beautiful woodcraft, African faces, accessories, the prices might be a little expensive but totally worth it. There is a local supermarket found everywhere called Abu-Ashara market where you can buy all you need.
In Sakkala you can also find some movie theatres but chances are they will be playing Egyptian movies.

Local food 5 stars
You can find some very good local Egyptian food in the Downtown area, you got a very good sandwich restaurant called KAMMOUNA, you can find it in Sherry street, it has the best Fool and Falafil sandwiches and many other Egyptian sandwiches like eggplant, fried and mashed potatoes. The sandwich costs 50 piasters or so, you can take away or eat in.
Another famous and delicious restaurants are Al-Masri and El-Joker, you will find them very close to Al-Saqqala square, El joker is a seafood restaurant with an eat in or take away, you can pick up your fish from the shop and even watch it get cooked, across the street from El Joker is Ebeid supermarket behind it in a small alley Al-Masri restaurant with a wide collection of pure Egyptian food and for a cheap price, you can find stuffed vegetables, Molokheya, stuffed pigeons and basically everything
There are also other restaurants like pronto, Rossi but I haven’t really tried them.

Nightlife 5 stars
Nightclubs and pubs in Hurghada are one of a kind, you can find one in almost every hotel and resort but the ones that really stand out are found in Sakkala and the Dahhar areas, the best local ones are: Calypso and Papas, the latest have been there forever I think, papas has many branches but papas beach club is the best In my opinion, it is an open air club, so you can dance, drink, smoke Shishah and enjoy the open air and the beach. Calypso is much bigger and modern so you won't feel it crowded which is a good thing or a bad thing depends on how you see it, they usually have Russian shows and belly dancers there.
Recently the International Ministry of sound has opened also, Hard Rock Café and little Buddha are open now as well.
There is a very interesting nightclub as well in The Grand Hotel that has a "Voodoo" party every Wednesday I think with foam!! really interesting,
So you can really find there all you need to bringing sexy back.

Safari trips 5 stars
Safari trips In Hurghada are really worth it, there are 2 types a beach buggy trip or a jeep trip, needless to say I took the buggy trip, you would go in a group of like 20 buggies with a guide of course, the trip itself is amazing, going through desert and mountains and racing other guys, just pure fun, take sunglasses or any protective eyewear, take a scarf also to wrap it around your face like Bedouins and Touareg cause the sand will be all over your face.
They do these trips around sunset or sunrise so you could watch any on top of a hill, your destination is a Bedouin camping place, you will get a meal there nothing fancy really, just commercially available Kabab or Kofta and some Bedouin dancing and show, you can also drink some of their green tea which is awesome.
Safari trips are booked from the hotel or if you want you can go downtown and find some local organizers that are just as good and potentially cheaper

Another activity you can find interesting is parachuting with boats, where they just tie you to a boat and a parachute and in a second you will find yourself flying.
The windsurfing although you will find it in many hotels and resorts but I don’t really recommend it as the wind isn't that strong really.
Now the thing that distinguish Hurghada the most is the city, the fact that you can do something outside your hotel, you don’t really get that in Sharm el Sheikh or Taba for instance, now what are those activities, the first thing I like to tell you about is Safari trips.

snorkeling 5 stars
There are a bizillion things to do in Hurghada, so let us review them one by one, of course being a city in Egypt you can instantly expect a bright sun giving you the perfect tan and a clear blue sky and an enjoyable weather in the summer or the winter, being a city on the Red sea, guarantees you a clear beautiful waters with lots of fish, the snorkeling there is phenomenal, everybody can do it as the sea is usually very calm with little waves. If you know how to dive, you have just boosted your amusement level to the fullest, there are many boats and yachts that would take you to deep waters for breath taking diving, you will find many centers basically in every resort to teach you diving if you want.

The city 3 stars
Now the city itself, you can divide Hurghada into three main parts and 3 huge resorts , the main parts are: El Dahar; the downtown area, Al Sakkala; another downtown area but modern and has hotels and stuff and the Resorts Road or ( El Korra road) this is the most recent part with nothing but hotels and resorts.
These are the three main parts of Hurghada, now there are three more places worth mentioning; El Gouna, Makadi bay and Sahl Hasheeh.

How to get there 3 stars
Ever since I was 7 Hurghada was my perfect idea of a vacation, every time I go there I see something new, every time I go there I find something that amuses me; playing in the golden sand as a child, swimming and snorkeling as I grow up, exploring the desert and the mountain, going to nightclubs or even just relaxing on the beach doing nothing.
Hurghada is about 480 Km from Cairo, situated between the Red sea mountain and shore, you can go there by cars or busses and of course there is an airport a few kilometers outside the city.
The Highway to Hurghada is ok, very boring actually with a suffocating speed limit of 90 km/Hr, you don’t get enough beautiful scenery on the way making it more boring, so I highly recommend a plane cutting short the five hour trip to one. Also if you take a bus there is a good chance there will be an accident, there are some crazy drivers out there.

Hurghada 3 stars
Hurghada lies 395km south of Suez, and is noted for its magnificent summer and winter climate. Located between empty desert and crystal-clear seas, stretches for about 40 km along the seashore, and it does not reach far into the surrounding desert. Its smart hotels, shimmering sands and top-class diving are an irresistible combination when it comes to sun-drenched relaxation. The clarity of its water made it a centre of tourist attraction especially for divers and practicing water sports because of the worldwide fame of its coral reefs and rare marine life it enjoys. You can watch the exquisite underwater marine life through well-equipped glass bottom submarines. Hurghada has a large number of hotels and tourist resorts of different categories, as well as well -equipped diving centers offering facilities for aquatic sports, in addition to restaurants and bazaars. On the shoreline, a fleet of smart looking hotels cater for every style and budget, from 2 star simplicity to 5 star luxury. Away from the sands, Hurghada's bazaar area is wicked for souvenir hunting and the resort boasts a mouth-watering array of international and local restaurants. The city is known as a party town, and with its many clubs, life could be said to begin there at night. Nearly every hotel has its own discotheque; some of the most famous ones at the moment are "Calypso" and "Papas Beach". If you're looking for nightlife, there's a feast of hotel floorshows and vibrant nightclubs to keep you up till late. Some notable places what you can visit during your stay: Sharm El Naga - a village, around 40 km south of Hurghada, its beach contains possibly the most beautiful reef cliff in the region; Al-Mahmya - a tourist beachfront camp on the protected Giftun island.
