Alkmaar: a tradition on Dutch land

During my short-stay in Amsterdam, I had decided to explore the region. Then, recommend by the staff from Information desk, I chose go to Alkmaar, a small town where there is a traditional Dutch cheese market. The market takes place every Friday morning during the Spring/Summer time (from April to September). The duration of my tour was around four hours, time enough to enjoy the medieval tradition of this village, where producers expose their cheeses, weighting and taste-tasting. The Waagplein was crowded of tourists observing the persons carrying the Gouda and Edam cheeses with colourful hats and arched transports. After all, I finished our tour with a stop in a very typical windmill. [more ]
