Fuessen as a city is terribly over run with tourists because of the two palaces of Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Hohenschwangau in the neighboring village of Hohenschwangau. I have been to Fuessen a couple hundred times and it really is just one street (an extremely expensive café street), one church (the basilica of St. Mang), and one castle (the Hohes Schloss of Fuessen or high palace of Fuessen). Therefore, in my opinion you can do Fuessen in about two hour’s total. What you really want to see are the palaces I mentioned before which are just 6 kilometers away in Hohenschwangau which you can get to by buses that leave from the train station every hour on the hour.
