New World Park Penang

I heard that New World Park used to be a famous amusement park in the 80s, but it is now an open-air square with a combination of food court, night market and shops. It is located on the junction of Burma Street and Swatow Lane, Georgetown. We visited this place during our stay in Dorsett Penang Hotel, which was situated just in front of it.

The food court has endless choices of local dishes—we had Curry Noodles, Nasi Goreng (the local fried rice), Loh Bak (fried snacks), and the famous Ais Kachang (red bean with various bits and pieces in milk and crushed ice). The prices were very sensible, ranging from MYR 3 – MYR 5 for a main dish.
