Gimel les Cascades is a beautiful small town clinging to the side of a steep wooded valley down which the three waterfalls that give the place its name are found. There’s a large (free) car park on the egde of town (uphill from the tiny centre) and the place is best explored on foot.

There are several viewing areas where the waterfalls can be photographed and the region is criss-crossed with well-marked forest walks that follow the course of the river.

A ruined château and a tiny chapel can also be found in the town.

Beware that out of season the place, though still beautiful (especially in Autumn), is largely closed so bring a picnic.
