Brasópolis: mountains and stars
Brasópolis is small nice village located not far from the São Paulo and Minas Gerais States. The flag of the municipality symbolizes its main attraction: the Brazilian National Astrophysics Laboratory, with telescopes at Pico dos Dias Mountain. I spent a couple of days in this nice astronomy observatory – it was the first time I saw the Magellan Clouds, so velvet fluffy up in the sky. The village itself's major attraction is the beautiful church of São Caetano. The cobbled streets and some old houses have clearly traces of colonial Portuguese style, blended with the natural mountain like landscape. A relaxing place. [more] |
