Glastonbury – a hippy retreat on the Somerset Levels
Glastonbury is a small town in Somerset with an abundance of attractions to suit all tastes. The town has a somewhat hippy and laid back feel to it and is notorious for the Glastonbury Festival, a hugely popular rock and pop event staged annually in June. The town is famous for the National Trust owned Glastonbury Tor, a teardrop shaped hill featuring the 15th century roofless St Michael’s Tower. On a clear down the views from the top are beautiful and far reaching over the Isle of Avalon and the Somerset Levels. The attractive Glastonbury Abbey in the town centre is well worth a visit and it is fun to dwindle away an afternoon browsing in the interesting little shops. [more] |
