The Access to Spiritual Bliss 4 stars
What is the greatest significance of Haridwar? It is undoubtedly very difficult to tell in a short way but to the millions of Hindus it is one of the most sacred as well as venerated places under the sun. In the modern sense it is the gateway to the four pilgrimages in the Uttrakhand region and is located on the foothills of Shivaliks. But that is not all! Why on each and every year lakhs of people visit this very city? The main reason is that this very place has been blessed by the trinity of Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma and also happens to be one of the major Shaktipeeths. My first visit was, to be very precise, of a sort of accident, since there was no prior plan or programme to visit. But when I first touched the sacred land I was dumbstruck by its scenic beauty. Not only that, but also by the thousands of people who were taking the holy dips in the River Ganges for the sublime realization. Now if you are a religious person you must, and if you even are a mere nature lover then also it is imperative to have a look of this city.

Now what can you perceive? For your knowledge, Haridwar is on the banks of River Ganga and down the ages it has purified the mind, the body and the soul . Even apart from being a spiritual or religious abode it has come up as a major learning center for arts, science and culture. If you want to have glance of the ancient Gurukul tradition of teaching, you can have a very good glimpse of it in here. This ancient tradition of teaching has maintained its fervor in Haridwar in spite f the ravages of the ages and the onslaught of the non-believers. Much more than this Haridwar is known for its marvelous ghats and this ghat is one of the most sacred ghats in India. In the evening a Maha Aarti is performed on this ghat. I am confident that if you are fortunate to have a glimpse of it you for the time being you will realize the meaning of the word 'salvation'. It is an event which is a must, not be missed by any visitor. On can say that Haridwar happens to be the greatest tourist attraction but still there are other places that allure the tourists at large. Thy include Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Maya Devi and several other renowned places.

The city of Haridwar is highly accessible. It is well connected to the major cities of India. Even in terms of accommodation there are hotels, lodges of all types catering to the needs of the tourists. But since this place is a part of the religiosity, vegetarian foods have to be consumed.
