Visiting Helsingor (Elsinore)
Helsingor is a small medieval town located north of Copenhagen on the shore of the Oresund. Elsinore is that same town as it is referred to in Shakespeare's play, Hamlet. They are no trains that go to Elsinore, so you will have to travel to the busy train station at Helsingor. It is an active place because there is a ferry line that crosses over to Sweden at this point. The town in Sweden is called Helsingborg. Helsingor, Denmark is a wonderful place to walk, shop and dine. There are many old half-timbered buildings and houses placed in a maze of streets and very, narrow alleyways.
