Jasper hikers face serious bear threats
The threat of encountering wild carnivores in Jasper is very real and I have first hand experience with this. The region has wolves, cougars, and especially bears and the forests are their homelands.
Cougars are a rare site in Jasper as they are very fearful and conservative animals. They will usually only attack from behind and usually only against small prey, like children.
Bears however are spotted in Jasper all of the time.
