Insider advice for your Kavala vacation

Shopping in Kavala 5 stars
Kavala is a rather big city. Besides the many bars or clubs, supermarkets or fast foods, this Greek city has many shops. Shopping in Kavala takes a few days at least. During a 7 day stay in Skala Prinos, I spent 5 days shopping in Kavala. There are both cheap stores with clothes of non famous brands and famous brands’ shops. The Kavala Mall does not offer such a large variety of interesting shops. The best place here is the Marks and Spencer, on two floors. Zara, Sisley, Beneton or Nike are just a few names of famous shops, one close to the other, a ten minute walk from the port and a 5 minute stroll from the mall. I spent an entire day in the 4 floor Zara Store and could have still stayed there but the ferry was leaving.

Mehmet Ali Memorial House 4 stars
The memorial house of Mehmet Ali is an important tourist attraction in Kavala. I hadn’t known about it before, but everybody we met in Kavala had seen it and they recommended us to visit it. The house is not as old as you might expect. It dates from the 18th century and it’s Turkish. I must say that the building is beautiful and has a lovely style. The house is extremely well preserved and you can still see part of the furniture and some decorations. Outside the house there is a square that hosts a statue of Mehmet Ali. The house can be found in the old part of town.
