Ski Resort of the South... Sugar Mountain, NC 4 stars
For those of you who don't know it, there are a few really nice ski resorts in the south, and Sugar Mountain is one of the best. I enjoy skiing there because it is a short drive from Georgia, and when you go it is usually snowing. The slopes are not as dangerous as they are out in Colorado or Utah, so they are much more applicable to the children. I would call Sugar a beginner style resort. You can take lessons at the bottom of the mountain. Once you complete them you just gradually move up the mountain according to how comfortable you are. The moguls further up are sometimes steep, but the mountain is set up as such that you can avoid them if you need to. By the end of the week you will enjoy yourself if you have paid attention in class. Your kids will probably be skiing circles around you but at least you will be having fun. lol Check Sugar out if you live in the South, I know you will enjoy it.

The Pit Surfshop and Boardriders Grill 5 stars

Wow. What an amazing place! A surf shop, Bar, restaurant and club all in the one place. I was traveling through here a few years ago and stumbled across this gem of a place. Super friendly staff, awesome meals at a great price. The wraps are delectable but I personally recommend Steve's Chicken Sammy. On texas toast, minus guacamole for a taste sensation. There is also plenty of surf history and things to see within the building. Both Steve and Ben are awesome blokes and are happy to tell you how they built the business from nothing.

Spongebob at Carowinds 3 stars
I dont know if Spongebob is stil in Carowinds as when we were there, Paramount still owned the theme park. When Spongebob was there, he was willing, open and accommodating to our requests for pictures. My nieces and nephews enjoyed Spongebob's presence a lot. If your kids are fans, make sure to meet and greet him.

The Cyclone at Carowinds 3 stars
This ride features loops and corkscrews that would be more enjoyable if you enter it with an empty stomach. My sister and her friends liked it so much. But the ride being literally stomach turning and scary - at least for me - I did not like it. But if you like such fun - yet completely safe - danger, this ride is for you.

The Borg 3 stars
A tip: Star Trek fans will love this ride. This is the only Star Trek ride in America - or so I heard. I am not sure what this ride's current name is since Carowinds is no longer owned by paramount. Still, prepare to be dropped, flown, make a horsehoe turn. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Carowinds 3 stars
Carowinds is somewhere between the Carolina's North and South, specifically nearer in NC's Charlotte. If you live anywhere near these regions, Carowinds is the place to be especially since this is the Carolina's largest theme park. If you do have plans to spend a weekend there, better call first. There was one time the whole park was closed because it was BMW day. Unless you are an employee of BMW, you cannot be let in. Save yourself and your kids, the travel mileage and the unecessary hassle.
