A rainy start of the trip
On one of these grey September days we landed at the airport of Kunming, the “City of eternal spring”. Kunming is a typical Chinese city, without any special places of interest. As during my last times there, also this time I just used Kunming for transit. The weather was cool and it was raining. Straight away we took the taxi to the train station, where we wanted to buy the tickets for the night train to go to Dali. There were no tickets for today. Disappointed, we went to Camelia hotel, where we somehow managed to get tickets for tonight’s train, paying a 20 Yuan commission.
